Stowen were awarded this scope as part of a full upgrade package on drilling rig “Gorilla VII” for Valaris. A full modification and refurbishment was required on the drillers cabin to meet requirements.

Stowen project managed all logistics and heavy lifts to get the cabin back to our onshore personnel for works.  Stowen carried out all destruct works before the installation of the new systems.

Scope completed:  

• Replacement of both the driller and AD control chairs 
• Major structural modifications within the drillers cabin 
• Full electrical installation of both chairs inclusive of fibre cables
• Upgrade to Amphion Integrated Drilling Control System
  

When the upgrade was completed, Stowen organised logistics to return it back to the rig. Once returned, Stowen personnel positioned it into place and completed full installation and commissioning works.

The project was completed on schedule with no LTIs
